I can go to the grocery store anytime now, but I still plan all of our meals for the week over the weekend and shop on Saturday or Sunday. There are usually one or two things I have to pick up so it is fresh during the week, but for the most part we are all set. I decided last Sunday that I was going to take a picture of our dinner every night for a week. I don't cook a lot of "recipes", it would be very easy to miss an ingredient or two when chasing after a baby. Everything we eat is simple. Grilling in the Summer is healthy, delicious, and leaves the kitchen clean too! We always have breakfast for dinner one night, usually Thursdays, but we mixed it up this week. Tacos are a staple around here. For a special treat on Saturday we got to go on a date while my parents stayed at our house with little Jakey while he was snoozing! We checked out a new restaurant in NW Portland called Fireside. We sat on the sidewalk, which I always love for the people watching. Brian mentioned how there were so many people out, we laughed how we forgot how many people don't have to stay at home from 7pm on a Saturday because their little dude is in bed! Anyway, I love food, so this was fun to do!

Weekend
On Monday morning I never can really describe what we do all weekend. They are always jam packed and kind of feel like a blur, but I know I enjoy every minute. This weekend was no exception. Friday night was an easy dinner at the bar at Amalfi's, just up from our house. We had some crazy thunderstorms that night too.
Saturday we were up early. I ran the "baby loop" which I now have to find places to hide and pee every five seconds on...gross, but true! Then off to the farmer's market for my burrito among other goodies. Brian and I met over on Belmont at Dick's kitchen for lunch and then I stopped for a cupcake. Oops. I then looked to brighten up our dining room with some flowers from the market and also some pretty pink roses straight from our yard!
Saturday we watched the basketball game and tried a couple of new recipes on the grill. We made shrimp and wings in foil, had some salad and bread for a nice summery dinner.
Sunday was a bonding morning with my Mama. A long walk and a trip to Williams-Sonoma to get me a new mixer, since the one I had for the last 2 years didn't quite work right. They replaced it, no questions asked and the chocolate chip cookies that I made yesterday were as delicious as ever as a result. The afternoon was spent in the yard and getting ready for the week. It's Monday morning and I am already anticipating the fun times this weekend will bring.

Spring Weekend Fun
We had a great weekend. Now that I am feeling more like myself I have this surge of energy that makes me want to clean things out, clean things up, and get after projects that I might have noticed over the past 3 months or more but haven't done anything about them. I'll get more into those projects in another post, but this is more about weekend fun.
Nearly every Saturday begins with a trip to the Farmer's Market. EVERY trip to the Farmer's Market begins with a breakfast burrito.
My order is special and the guys knows my name - they call it a "B with S, no cheese"
That's a burrito, with Bacon, no cheese and Salsa put inside, rather than on the side. So darn good.
My favorite burrito stand, as you can see from the line, I think I have told too many people.
Market Flowers, it is hard to beat that this time of year.
If it isn't going to be a burrito it is usually some form of bread.
One of my favorite part of the market some weeks, some quality time with one sweet Viola.
On Sunday I went for a long walk in the morning. I would love to say it was just to get some exercise, but the fact is that the Sunday market opened this week for the season. It is about 2.5 miles from our house. Does it still count as exercise if you walk 5 miles for that same glorious burrito? Wow, I sound a little pathetic, like my whole weekend revolved about these little tortillas wrapping up eggs, potatoes, and chilis from heaven. Oh well, if the shoe fits...
Our neighbor down the block, a small portion of her ridiculously (I am green with envy) beautiful garden.
Wilshire Park
A stroll down Alberta Street.
Now this mini mart serves bento and looks a little scary. At one time it must have been Beaumont Village's thriving pharmacy and soda fountain.
