28 Weeks

Brian was in Brazil this week for work so I don't have the usual chalkboard picture, but I do have a nice little comparison shot from 24 weeks.  Yes indeed this baby is growing!

I gained 5lbs this month, in total I have gained 17 lbs at about 28.5 weeks.  It is much harder to hide a belly than it was a few weeks ago.  I took the glucose 1 hour screen this week and I haven't heard anything which is good news in this case.  Baby looked good, I measured at 27 weeks and the little heartbeat was about 160.  Even though I can feel the baby moving around I still love to hear that little heart thumping. 

My sister posted a picture of us as kids on Facebook this week.  When I was looking at the picture it struck me that something about my profile looked oddly familiar.  Peanut could be a girl....or a boy.  It is so funny how were were convinced that we didn't want to find out the sex, yet I spend 9 months trying to convince myself of one or the other.  Either way I don't care.  Those cute little toes and nose.  I can't wait.

Nursery Sneak Peeks

Here are a few shots of the nursery.  Once we get our chair and ottoman I will post more pictures of how it is coming together.  Once Baby Lanter arrives I will post more pictures of the whole thing.  I really like it so far, it feels like a cozy place to cuddle and play.  

I counted this morning, I have approximately 48 work days until this baby arrives.  To say I am excited would be a massive understatement.  

Instagram

Social media is a little bit of an addiction.  I never really look at it on my computer, but I am super guilty of following closely on my phone.  It is the fascination with other people's lives I guess.  Just in the last couple of months I discovered Instagram.  I know, I was a bit late to the party, but it is so much fun.  I love the fact that you just can post pictures, that is mostly what I am interested in too.  I also like that you can keep your profile more private, that not every move, or comment shows up in a news feed.  They are fun to look back on.  These have been a few of my recent favorites.

27 weeks

Last week of the 2nd trimester.  Time is absolutely flying.  No progress on the nursery to report, but I am sure the next few months will be full of how our little person's room is shaping up.  

Overall I still feel great.  I definitely am emotional, every couple weeks or so I have a little weepy day.  The day we took this picture was one of them.  I just feel so touched by things, much more sentimental.  I was sitting at our computer working on blog entries, since I had fallen so far behind and I started to watch the video that my sister had taken the day Brian proposed.  For those of you that don't know the story of our engagement, it is one of the best and one of these days I'll post in detail how it all unfolded.  But for now I'll just say, watching the videos, remembering how special Brian made that day for me, how amazing he was, how amazing he is, made me all mushy inside.  I think every wife thinks their husband is probably amazing and that is good, that is how it should be.  For me it feels like a little something more, like it is hard to fathom I ever lived a day without him. 

See....here I go again, damn hormones.

Weekend Photo Fun

It was SUPER hot this weekend.  I am not going to complain though, I don't know if there is anything better than Summer in Oregon.  I did feel like I was melting at times though.  We had a fun weekend and on Saturday I bribed Brian to go on a bike ride with me.  Our destination was margaritas (or lemonade) and we headed out.  Brian had rented a new lens for the weekend, so we made a couple of stops for him to try it out.  

Later in the evening we were sitting in our den melting and I heard Sam in the backyard.  Turns out he had rented a lens as well and was dropping it off for Brian to return.  We were so hot and lazy and didn't want to move off of the couch, but we both tried it out just on things around us...mostly body parts and Brian's wine.  We loved it though, the perfect lens for those close up baby shots in a couple of months. We get our bonuses this week, so that just might be a little treat to ourselves!

Baby Tuesday

A few weeks ago we started a new tradition.  We established "Baby Tuesday." It is pretty simple.  We decided that every Tuesday between now and Peanut's arrival we would dedicate the evening to something baby related. 

The first Baby Tuesday was hanging shelves in the nursery.  I bought some vintage looking shelves from Restoration hardware and of course everything looks easier than it really is.  It was a little bit of a tense process and figured out that our house is not level....at all....but we now have shelves and they are lovely. 

The next Baby Tuesday we sat in front of the computer and enrolled in baby classes.  We are taking Infant CPR and a newborn care class in the next  couple of months so we know SOMETHING when the baby arrives.  Once we finished the classes we decided to check out an online childbirth class, we didn't really want to spend money on one!  We watched the first couple of chapters.  It was just taking us through the labor process and what actually happens in a woman's body.  It was fascinating and frightening all at the same time. 

Last night we had another Baby Tuesday.  We went to see the Dark Knight Rises.  We said it was because baby wanted to, but really it was Brian and he has a good point.  Once Peanut is out in the world with us it will be really tough to catch a movie.  Going to movies has never been my favorite thing to do, but I always enjoy it once I am there.  We saw the movie in IMAX so the sound and picture were incredible.  I don't think the baby stopped moving the entire time.  Apparently that is the loudest place I have been since the baby can hear.  Crazy. 

Next week Brian heads to Brazil, but once he is back, we only have 11 "Baby Tuesdays" left.  What if Peanut arrived on a "Baby Tuesday,"  that would make it a really smart baby.

26 Weeks

Another week goes by.  I have fallen a bit behind on my blogging after a very busy month of work, but I now have a few solid entries in the hopper.  

Not a lot to report on the baby front.  I am still feeling good.  I am enjoying some good night sleeps and savoring every minute as I know that will all end in about 90 days.  I've got a little swelling in my ankles by night time and I think I have tendinitis on the ankle that I sprained a while back.  With that, I haven't been running for a week and I am not sure if I will again.  I did play 18 holes of golf last Friday with Brian and my parents and walked the course pushing my bag.  I was very tired by the end, but it felt good for what might be my last round for a while!

I feel the baby often and I keep picturing when I get to meet the sweet little bundle.  I just can't wait.
