The story of how I met my husband is pretty simple. We worked together, we became friends, it became more - we dated, we lived together, we got engaged, and we got married.
I mean, I guess it sounds pretty simple. There were a few other details that should probably come into play.
When I moved back to Portland in March 2007 I met Brian in my new job at Nike. We were peers. He was managing the Men's business and I was hired to manage Women's. I knew right away that we would be good friends but I never thought of it much past that. At least not right away.
We worked together everyday and we always laughed a lot. I found myself excited to see him at work and to hang out with him.
I probably should have mentioned that I made my move to Portland with a boyfriend that I lived with...oops.
Time went by and there were plenty of signs that I saw Brian as more than a friend, but he really had no idea. I stayed with my boyfriend and although I wasn't always happy, I just thought that was the way it was supposed to be. I even got engaged to him the following October. Again, oops.
We spent the next several months planning a wedding until June of the next year when I ended it for good. I had feelings for someone else. Someone who was my best friend and my favorite person I had ever met. I didn't know if it would go anywhere with Brian, but there was no way I couldn't try. I remember thinking at one point...oh my gosh, how much fun would it be if Brian wasn't just my work friend, but my boyfriend, or even my husband. My life would be so much fun.
So we started dating and we shared an office at work. We kept our relationship a secret at work, but after 8 months of hiding out we came clean...nobody was surprised.
We got engaged in November of 2009, thats a story for a different day.
We got married on August 27th, 2010. People often say their wedding day was the best day of their life...I had always thought, how sad, you are so young! I can honestly say though, it was truly one of the best days of my life. To know I had a life ahead that was filled with laughter and adventure with Brian. Plus, it was a really good party.
We jumped right into married life and now with about a year and half of newlywed life behind us, we are on a great adventure.
